My most successful project would gave to be my negative project. I drew the picture in white and blue and then took a picture of it and put the negative filter on it. If I could do a project over again, it would be my quilling project. I would roll the paper so the process wouldn't be as tedious and I could do whimsical designs within her dress. Both of these projects required more of a realistic style. I had to consider shading, highlights, and lighting. In one of the projects, i had to use color while the other is in black and white. I think it would be cool if we did a unit on cartoon art or graphic design. It would be nice to know how to draw a person a computer.

The latest project involves taking a piece of art and recreating something that is similar or compliments it. In this case, we had to pick a piece from one of the collections at the NC Art Museum from the their website. I was inspired by this contemporary piece called Judith and Holofernes by Kehinde Wiley. I had liked the idea that he took ordinary people and painted them in this authoritative position. I am taking that and making my own image using quilling. If you don't know, quilling requires strips of paper being rolled up and made into any shape you want. What I plan to do is glue all of the pieces of paper down on a backdrop, and it will form the picture I want. I also like the flowers in the back, so I might do something with that as well. I was given the assignment to pick an adjective , come up with an essential question using that word, and create a piece of art to answer the question. I chose the word drab and used the question, is drab really all that drab? I decided to use juxtaposition
I was asked to read an article concerning this question. The writer believes that not all artwork should has a backstory or deep meaning and that the question suggests that all artwork should have meaning. I would say that I agree with what he is saying. I think that art doesn't necessarily have to have meaning, but it may mean something for the artist who made it. At the end of the day, the art is seen how the viewer portrays it and everyone may view a piece of art differently. For someone, a piece could remind them of something sentimental, but for someone else it could just be a painting.
Into OblivionWe began the year by journaling. It's pretty much like scrapbook meets diary. The picture below is my favorite page in the book so far. I had found the woman below in a magazine and cut her out. I decided I wanted to put my own flair to picture and thought of it as her rowing into oblivion or whatever her future may hold, but not exactly having any direction.
This unit, we're focusing on how some of the best artists steal. We basically take an animal or character and mash it up with another or alter it.
Throughout the project, I had stopped multiple times to analyze my work and get a different perspective on it. I had to take into consideration how I could express value and get as much detail as possible. That's how I decided to make it monochromatic and just add more or less paint in certain pleaces.
