I was asked to read an article concerning this question. The writer believes that not all artwork should has a backstory or deep meaning and that the question suggests that all artwork should have meaning. I would say that I agree with what he is saying. I think that art doesn't necessarily have to have meaning, but it may mean something for the artist who made it. At the end of the day, the art is seen how the viewer portrays it and everyone may view a piece of art differently. For someone, a piece could remind them of something sentimental, but for someone else it could just be a painting.
