The latest project involves taking a piece of art and recreating something that is similar or compliments it. In this case, we had to pick a piece from one of the collections at the NC Art Museum from the their website. I was inspired by this contemporary piece called Judith and Holofernes by Kehinde Wiley. I had liked the idea that he took ordinary people and painted them in this authoritative position. I am taking that and making my own image using quilling. If you don't know, quilling requires strips of paper being rolled up and made into any shape you want. What I plan to do is glue all of the pieces of paper down on a backdrop, and it will form the picture I want. I also like the flowers in the back, so I might do something with that as well.
